Head of Development

Aer Soléir is seeking a Head of Development to join our dynamic and growing team. This is a key role in the business.

Aer Soléir’s business model is to identify renewable energy developers across Europe and partner with them to bring their projects to the Ready-To-Build stage. The Development Manager will lead on behalf of the company to bring projects through all development stages to the point that Aer Soléir will; (i) take control and ownership of the projects, (ii) provide the complete financing solution at financial close and (iii) manage and deliver the projects through construction and into commercial operation

This role reports to the Chief Operations Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new greenfield renewable energy and energy storage project partnering opportunities
  • Advance the development of assigned projects to Ready-To-Build status
  • Manage and coordinate with our partners and with internal and external resources to achieve land acquisition, permitting, interconnection/transmission, and other project development milestones, with accountability for budget and schedule
  • Create and maintain project maps, databases and tracking tools for assigned projects
  • Support commercial and power marketing efforts for assigned projects
  • Perform regional market and competitive analysis as requested
  • Establish and maintain industry and community relationships to advance project development
  • Develop and implement  best-in-class systems, procedures, controls, processes and reporting to ensure full transparency of the development phase on multiple projects, in multiple jurisdictions with multiple technologies
  • Ensure that the operation of the development side of the business has a comprehensive performance management system for reporting on agreed targets and key performance indicators
  • Promote communication and adequate information flow, and thereby solidify management control and direction of the enterprise during projects’ development phases
  • Support due diligence on project acquisition opportunities as requested
  • Provide development support through engineering, procurement construction, and financing as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Significant travel within Europe (50% +)

Education / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent) preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy
  • Experience of depth in the construction of utility scale wind, solar and storage projects
  • Experience of procurement, engineering, construction and operation of utility scale wind, solar and storage projects will be an added advantage
