Civil Engineer

Aer Soléir is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team.

The Civil Engineer will be the company’s “go to” civil engineering technical expert. He/She will provide all required expert technical support during the development, procurement, construction, installation, start-up, commissioning and long term operations and maintenance phases of Aer Soléir’s utility-scale wind, solar PV and storage projects.

This role reports to the Head of Asset Management

Key Responsibilities

  • Commitment to safety as the number one priority
  • Provide technical support during the development of projects ;
  • Preliminary system and optimization
  • Conceptual project site layouts
  • Technical input to project schedules
  • Project cost estimates, including upfront capex and long-term opex
  • Preliminary engineering to support permitting, interconnection and procurement
  • Proven geo technical capability and in particular experience of turbine foundations in various ground conditions
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills
  • Solid understanding and ability to interpret to local, state and European guidelines and regulations
  • Strong ability to impact tendering procedures and specifications
  • Ensure effective technical and feasibility studies, and site investigations
  • Effectively monitor and drive project activities
  • Possess strong organizational and site management skills
  • Ability to perform calculation, dimensioning, and control of concrete and metallic construction
  • Profound ability to carry out safety analyses and stability and quality control
  • Ability to effectively work with professionals from other fields
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal and written
  • Serve as technical resource for project development team, developing solutions and handling technical challenges that arise during various phases of the project
  • Monitor relevant industry standards relating wind turbine deployment
  • Develop innovative tools and approaches to optimize levelised cost wind projects
  • Support due diligence of project acquisitions upon request
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record an experience of all civil engineering related competencies (foundations, roads, buildings, etc.) with respect to engineering, tendering, specification, procurement, construction, construction management of utility scale wind farms, solar PV projects, Battery storage projects, substations, and distribution/transmission lines
  • Demonstrated interest track record in wind and keen interest renewable energy in general
  • Strong technical expertise and ability to provide sound technical guidance
  • Ability to work in a project-type environment with tight deadlines and concurrent deliverables
  • Ability to learn, understand and communicate technical issues effectively to lay audiences
  • Ability to effectively manage contractors and consultants to achieve deadlines on budget
  • Ability to review technical designs, reports and documentation, and provide analysis
  • Travel to project sites as required

Education / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent) preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy
  • Experience in utility scale wind/solar/storage project engineering, construction and operation is a requisite
  • Experience managing contractors and consultants
  • Experience working with suppliers of major equipment suppliers
