Aer Soléir is seeking an Balance of Plant Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team.

The Balance of Plant Engineer will be the company’s “go to” Balance of Plant electrical technical expert. He/She will provide all required expert technical support during the development, procurement, construction, installation, start-up, commissioning and long term operations and maintenance phases, in relation to the technical aspects of the balance of plant electrical (HV/MV/LV) / control & instrumentation / SCADA throughout the development, procurement, construction, installation, start-up, commissioning and long term operations and maintenance phases of Aer Soléir’s utility-scale wind, solar PV and storage projects.

This role reports to the Head of Asset Management

Key Responsibilities

  • Commitment to safety as the number one priority
  • Provide technical support during the development of projects ;
    • Preliminary system design and optimization
    • Conceptual project site layouts
    • Technical input to project schedules
    • Project cost estimates, including upfront capex and long-term opex
    • Preliminary engineering to support permitting, interconnection and procurement
  • Serve as technical resource for project development team, developing solutions and handling technical challenges that arise during various phases of the project
  • Develop specifications for BoP electrical equipment suppliers and contractors
  • Provide technical support to procurement team for equipment supply and contractors engagement
  • Evaluate technologies and manufacturers for capital and operational efficiencies
  • Research equipment forward price curves and emerging technologies
  • Monitor relevant industry standards relating BoP electrical deployment
  • Develop innovative tools and approaches to optimize levelised cost impact on projects
  • Support due diligence of project acquisitions upon request
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record in wind/solar/storage and keen interest in renewable energy in general
  • Strong technical expertise and ability to provide sound technical guidance
  • Ability to work in a project-type environment with tight deadlines and concurrent deliverables
  • Ability to learn, understand and communicate technical issues effectively to lay audiences
  • Ability to effectively manage contractors and consultants to achieve deadlines on budget
  • Ability to review technical designs, reports and documentation, and provide analysis
  • Extensive travel to project sites as required

Education / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent) preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy
  • Experience in utility scale wind project engineering, construction and operation is a requisite
  • Strong knowledge of wind turbine technology and design principles is a plus
  • Experience managing contractors and consultants
    • Experience working with suppliers of major equipment suppliers
